About
Jonas Zink (BA) is a drummer, percussionist and educator currently living and working in Innsbruck and Vienna, Austria.Born in 1999, he visited the local Musikgymnasium before he went on to study Classical Percussion (IGP) with Norbert Rabanser and Gunnar Fras, Latin-Percussion with Anton Mühlhofer and Amir Wahba as well as Jazz-Drums with Georg Tausch, Walter Grassmann and Mario Gonzi. He is a winner of many 1st, 2nd and special awards, performing either as a soloist or in bands/ensembles in competitions such as Prima la Musica, Podium Jazz Pop Rock, OSEW, Italy Percussion Competition and many more. Besides that, he took private lessons and masterclasses from drummers and percussionists such as Joel Barford, Kweku Sumbry, Peter Erskine, Raphael Christen, Peter Primus Frosch, Klemens Marktl, Mark Whitfield Jr., Omar Hakim etc.Striving to be a versatile musician, his projects cover various musical styles and genres, ranging from contemporary Latin-Jazz Trios to New Orleans Jazz groups, Salsa bands, Neo-Soul/Fusion and many more.He worked and performed together with musicians such as Florian Bramböck, Christian Wegscheider, Martin Ohrwalder, Clemens Ebenbichler, Dragan Trajkovski, etc. as well as performing in various Brassbands (CatchBasin-Brassband (European Youth Champion 2019), R.E.T. Brassband, Brassband Fröschl Hall), Contemporary Chamber Orchestras (Kammerorchester Innstrumenti, Tiroler Ensemble für Neue Musik, Windkraft), musical productions (Tiroler Landestheater) and others.Other noteable performances include Steve Reich - Music for 18 Musicians (under the conduction of Micaela Haslam), The Music of Miles Davis and Gil Evans (conducted by Stephan Costa), Charles Mingus - Epitaph (conducted by Titus Engel) as well as Carmina Burana (Wiltener Sängerknaben), all of which were performed by students of the Tyrolean State Conservatory and/or University Mozarteum Salzburg.He is also currently part of the LiveMusicNow programme, which allows young musicians to teach and perform in facilities with reduced access to live music, where - besides performing - he took part in organizing and holding workshops at the Daniel-Sailer-Schule in Innsbruck.
